Redefining engineering with computing and artificial intelligence

The Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering is bringing engineering into the future.

We use the power of AI and computing and a focus on small-scale, networked, and cloud technology to better address the challenges of today and tomorrow. Our research is accelerating achievements in areas ranging from advanced fibers to replacements for damaged areas of the brain.

We are part of Indiana University’s Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering on the Bloomington campus. Our department was founded in 2016 as IU’s first-ever engineering program.
